Seattle Food

One of the great things about being a PhD student is you learn many clever ways to procrastinate. This is one such diversion. I should be writing a paper but instead I’m thinking about dinner, and dinner makes me think about all the fabulous Seattle restaurants I’ve experienced… and those yet to be discovered. This is a page to record my favorites. When you’re in town, do yourself a favor and eat at one of these.

To give myself credit, note that I am NOT starting a food blog. That would be a bit over the edge… more procrastination than I really have time for :-)

Gabriel’s Favorite Seattle Restaurants

Senor Moose Cafe
This place looks like a dive, but it’s really a gem. Probably my favorite breakfast spot in Seattle. If you go on a weekend morning, you’ll probably find me eating huevos rancheros with a big smile on my face. They also have a great dinner menu that brings comida tipica to a level most Mexican places have never experienced. Most dishes are on the somewhat spicy side, and there are a few options for those who prefer milder tastes.

Tidbit Bistro
This is a Capitol Hill gem of a place “where Madrid meets Napoli.” Yes, it’s modern European – Spanish and Italian -  with a flexible menu for folks with restricted diets. I discovered it in early 2009 and my mouth waters just thinking about it. Small and elegant bistro style can be moderately priced if you share tapas choices or more on the expensive side if you go for the multi-course meal.
