I’m receiving a lot of pointers to alternative media sources to help get a broader perspective on current events than one might receive from the international media conglomerates. I’ll post a few as they seem relevant. GS

WorldLink TV, a public interest satellite television network now available
in over 16 million US homes (channel 375 on DirecTV and 9410 on Dish
Network), is airing programs that look in depth at the historical and
cultural context of our current situation and examine the psychology of
enemy-making. WorldLink carries gavel-to-gavel coverage of the United
Nations and regular news reports with an international viewpoint. And they
are about to launch Global Perspective, a weekly series that explores the
different world views of people across the globe, by comparing the television
news reports they watch. This ‘World Press Review’ of the air features an
overview of the week’s “big story” as presented in countries at the heart of
events and those at their effect, reported by newscasters who see it one way
and those who see it another, hearing not only from the “movers and shakers,”
but also the moved and shaken. With the assistance of Fenton Communications,
WorldLink will begin to reach wider audiences on TV and streaming live to
the Internet. Ultimately WorldLink TV provides a television channel to an extended community of thoughtful viewers and activists, who are world-centric and understand
complexity. Executive Producer Kim Sencer is open to receiving ideas for programming. See http://www.worldlinktv.com
